Viral video: A video has been doing rounds on social media wherein an elderly man can be seen lighting a beedi inside a crowded metro train. His audacious act prompted objections from some of the passengers nearby. However, reports suggest that when confronted, the man defended his actions by asserting that he possessed a valid metro ticket. The incident quickly gained traction on social media, prompting calls for a response from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Several netizens and web portals shared the video asking DMRC to take action as smoking inside the metro premises is strictly prohibited. “We conduct random checking through flying squads to detect any such objectionable behaviour. We appeal to the public to instantly bring up such instances to our notice so that immediate action can be taken”, DMRC said in a reply.

Earlier last week a video had gone viral in which a couple was seen engaged in a passionate kiss onboard the train, while those around them appeared nonchalant, suggesting that such incidents have unfortunately become a frequent sight.

The viral video blurred the face of the couple, however, one could clearly assume that they were embracing each other and sharing a kiss near the automated doors of the metro. The incident reportedly took place at Anand Vihar metro station.

“Another emotional video of Anand Vihar #delhimetro (OYO). Maybe we have forgotten that love is blind, people are not,” netizens shared while posting the video on X (formerly Twitter).
