In yet another major success against interstate -border smuggling networks amidst the ongoing war against drugs launched on the directions of Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav IPS,, the Malerkotla Police have busted an interstate drug trafficking racket with the arrest of two paddlers and seizure of 60 kgs of poppy husk worth lakhs of rupees.
The accused have been identified as Bhim Singh alias Bhima, son of Fauja Singh, and Jeone Kaur alias Jeoni, wife of Gran Singh – both residents of Bhudan village in Sangrur
Divulging more details to the press media, the senior superintendent of police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that Acting on tip-off, a raiding party led by Sub-Inspector Surjit Singh caught the duo red-handed with the contraband near Dangra Wada. “The seizure includes around 60 kilograms of poppy husk which was meant for supplying to drug addicts,” said Senior Superintendent of Police, Malerkotla, Mr Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh.
