Ahead of Republic Day, the Malerkotla Police today carried out ‘Operation Eagle-III’, a specialised intelligence-based crackdown to identify and nab criminals and anti-social elements across the district, ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.
Over 100 officers and personnel of the local police fanned out across various vulnerable locations in a synchronised 3-hour swoop early Tuesday morning. Separate teams covered the bus stand, railway station, hotels, restaurants, tea stalls and public spaces – aiming to smoke out history-sheeters and offenders wanted for various crimes. Suspicious persons were frisked and checked for criminal antecedents.
