The Election Commission of India has directed to transfer Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Special Sarangal on the basis of a complaint. The letter issued in this regard has said that they should be removed from their current posting and transferred to another place, which is not their home district. It has also been written that it should be ensured that they are posted somewhere outside the district which is not in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency. The Election Commission has asked for a panel of 3 officials to appoint a new Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar.

Similarly, instructions have been given to remove ADGP Jaskaran Singh of Ropar Range and DIG of Border Range Narendra Bhargava. Both these officers have also been asked to be deputed from the existing districts and to ensure that the newly deputed districts do not fall under the existing deputed districts or Lok Sabha seats. Both the said officers are retiring in April and June 2024 respectively. For the appointment of new officers at both the places, the commission has asked for panels with 3 names each.
